Halley Elementary PTO Committees

The PTO is always seeking volunteers to chair committees.  Some of these positions may be held as co-chair positions if you would like to share the responsibilities with another volunteer.

Bells and Whistles Fundraising
Chair:   Helpdesk
Description:   This committee is responsible for tracking the sales of the Paperless PTO Bells and Whistles fundraising program.
 
Directory
Chair:   Tricia Waugh
Description:  

In charge of creating the school directory.

Time Commitment: 10 hours. Mainly by email.

Includes: making sure opt-out from the directory is correct, editing and printing.

 
EVENTS - Movie Night
Chair:   TBD
Description:  

Movie Nights is a family activity and children must be accompanied by an adult.  We will project the movie in the cafeteria/gym.

 
EVENTS - Pi Night

EVENTS - Talent Show

Description:  

Students and teachers/administrators/staff will showcase their talent.

Committee will advertise, coordinate, and put together the talent show.

 
EVENTS -Teachers and Staff Appreciation Week
Chair:   TBD - Would you be interested in chairing or co-chairing?
Description:  

Teachers and Staff Appreciation week is for honoring teachers and staff and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.

Committee chair and volunteers will plan out fun themes for the week and execute the planned events.

 
EVENTS-Veteran's Day Reception
Chair:   Looking for a volunteer to lead this event!
Description:  

Coordinate, setup and serve veterans and their family on Veteran's Day.  School will host a Veteran's Day performance after the breakfast.

Time Commitment: 5 hours. Breakfast for Veteran’s day. Collection of goods or see if you can get a business to donate breakfast goods- Starbucks, IHOP, Dunkin Donuts, Etc. Signup genius, collection of goods, and clean up. Place leftovers in teacher’s lounge

 
FUNDRAISER-Art Night
Chair:   Angelique Anderson
Description:  

Halley’s art teacher, Mr. Singh, will show participants how to paint on canvas!

6 hours. Winter and Spring Order canvases, work with Art teacher for picture, Order forms, Paint, work with hospitality for concessions.

2017 Two Art Night Events made $1,661 (Sales $2,599 / Expenses: $938). 63% return.  And just think that includes the cost of all the paint that was purchased.
 
FUNDRAISER-Bingo Night
Chair:   Maida Piggee
Description:  

PTO hosts bingo night with fun prizes.

Time Commitment: 10 hours. Making sure bingo supplies are ordered. Making sure baskets are in place. Signup genius for volunteers. Attend the day of the event. Organize concessions. Organize raffle.

 
FUNDRAISER-Boosterthon
Chair:   Maida Piggee
Description:  

Coordinate/execute Booster-thon at Halley.  Fun Run is an all inclusive elementary school fundraiser.

 
FUNDRAISER-Box Tops for Education
Chair:   Rosalind Malhotra
Description:  

Organize twice a year collection of box tops. Organize prize for winning class. Send in Box Tops.

Time Commitment: 5 hours.

 
FUNDRAISER-Hearts for Halley
Chair:   Maida Piggee
Description:  

'Hearts for Halley' is our direct donation fundraiser that will run in February 2018.  All funds raised will help support this year’s Halley PTO goal to increase the number of computer devices available for student use and provide access to additional academic assemblies and programs.  

Donate Funds to help raise funds for Halley and bragging right for your child's grade to have the most hearts displayed on the main school hallway.

 
FUNDRAISER-Spirit Wear
Chair:   Cornelia Springer
Description:  

Place orders and maintain inventory of spirit wear sold through PTO.

Time Commitment: 20 hours. Collect orders. Place orders. Organize by student name, name of teacher
